A Perfect 4th of July in the Greater Jamestown, New York Area

The Fourth of July is an American tradition that would not be complete without some great friends and family, food, fun and fireworks.  The Greater Jamestown area has it all for you to celebrate an unforgettably perfect day!

All perfect days start in the morning.  Our favorite morning tradition is to watch a parade.  So, if parades are also your thing, you will want to check out the Village of Mayville's event.  The 4th of July Grand Parade starts at 10 a.m., and runs down Main Street (Rte. 394) in Mayville, New York.  Plan to arrive early for ease of parking and spot selection.  (Don't forget to bring some water for the little ones, and a blanket or some chairs to sit on.)  This family affair is sure to please, as there are plenty of things to see, as well as an ample selection of vendors!

After a great parade, our perfect day continues with a little physical activity along the Chadakoin River. It should be a great day for a walk on the Riverwalk or check out the new Chadakoin Park Trail and Bike Path. If you want to get closer to the Chadakoin, put a kayak or canoe in at McCrea Point Park.

Once, you're done there, our perfect day continues with getting ready for the BIG show: the fireworks!  The truth is every spot around Chautauqua Lake is a great spot to watch the display.  (Something that's unique to our area are the lake flares.  Just before the fireworks displays begin, you will  notice the outline of the lake start to glow red!

Each year, area residents along the shore of Chautauqua Lake light red flares on their properties.  The effect of everyone doing something simultaneously is nothing short of breathtaking.  So, find a spot, park yourself there, and you will be in for a truly spectacular sight.

If you love the fireworks, but you're also interested in a party, check out the Village of Lakewood's 4th of July Summerfest!

The Village of Lakewood, which is just a stone's throw away from downtown, celebrates the 4th of July all-day-long with Summerfest.  The party starts at 11:30 a.m. with a Kidz Zone Play Area (paid admission required), and then the vendors open up at 12 noon, and remain open until the fireworks.  The fireworks display occurs at 10 p.m. in Hartley Park.  (Please plan to arrive to Hartley Park at least an hour beforehand to grab a great spot for the show!)

As with all great things, our perfect day ends with a beautiful fireworks show that will not disappoint.  With plenty of things to do on the 4th of July, everyone in your group will find something that they love to do in the Greater Jamestown Area.

We hope you will JOIN us and plan to celebrate YOUR perfect day with us!
