Happy Fourth of July from Jamestown

Greater Jamestown is celebrating the Fourth of July this week with cookouts, fireworks, and gatherings of family and friends. Plans for many area residents will revolve around festivities in Lakewood and other hotspots that culminate with fireworks over a flare-illuminated lake. Many others will attend the Great Blue Heron music festival in Sherman. Since most of us have our Fourth of July’s planned well in advance, let’s take a look towards the future to highlight a few fun events to add to your summer calendar.
This coming Monday, July 7th, country musician Marty Brown will be performing at the Willow Bay Theater. Many may recognize his name from America’s Got Talent. This Kentucky-born musician has toured with Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, and Hank Williams Jr. Order tickets and get more information here.

July’s Third Thursday concert will take place July 17th at Winter Garden Plaza. Members of the local band Mysterious Moonshow will dust off their intergalactic instruments to give us some of their surf rock flavor. Hosted by local comedian Eric Basile, the show will open with Pine Fever’s ragtime blues. A casual group bike ride through downtown will follow the event.

The Outrageous Universe Revival, or Our Fest, is in its 18th year and will take place August 1st through August 3rd at the Kevin Cole Farm. The event features an array of local talent including Smackdab, The Bogarts, Dirt Track Racing, and Matt Homan as well as regional favorites Mosaic Foundation, Hypnotic Clambake, and Pine Fever. The one-and-only Baby Gramps will be performing as well. You can learn more about Our Fest at http://ourmusicfest.com/
The Lucille Ball Comedy Festival will take place August 6th – 10th. There are over 50 events planned including a Lucille “Ball”, comedy workshops, film screenings, art exhibits, and stand-up comedy. Learn more and purchase your tickets at www.lucycomedyfest.com
Lastly, The Jamestown Renaissance Corporation is working on the final details to this year’s Downtown Motor Mayhem, featuring the Thunder in the Streets motorcycle rally and Downtown Cruisin’ car show. The event will take place in downtown Jamestown on August 15th from 3 – 9 pm. There will be more information soon at www.JamestownRenaissance.org
