This year marks the 75th year of professional baseball in Jamestown and the 20th year of the Jamestown Jammers. The season kicks off with a four-day homestand against Mahoning Valley that begins at 7:05 pm this Friday at Russell E. Diethrick, Jr. Park. Friday night will have fireworks immediately following the game. On Saturday, the Jammers will host a pregame event from 4 pm to 6:30 pm with large construction trucks for kids to enjoy and a carnival-style atmosphere. For Father’s Day, there will be many activities for dads and their kids. Monday will be a school day where local students will learn about baseball as well as some ways to stay healthy and active.
The Downtown Jamestown Farmers Market is in full swing at its new location and time. The market takes place every Thursday from noon to 6 pm on Cherry St. between 3rd and 2nd streets. The market is a great place to get lunch with a friend, pick up veggies after work, or browse wares from local artisan vendors. Get updates on vendors and what they will be offering each week by following the market’s Facebook page.
