For those of us that spend a great deal of time in Jamestown we know that it is a very musical city. There is live music entertainment every weekend in Jamestown, when we walk downtown we can often hear bands practicing in different studio spaces, and we also know about one of Jamestown's greatest assets, Infinity Visual and Performing Arts.
In the last 15 years Infinity has grown from being a small program with seven students in a living room to a vibrant non-profit with a full time staff of 3, a part time staff of 3, and 36 instructors that expose over 1500 students to assorted arts including painting, music, and dance. The 8600 square foot space used for their programming is always active and when the space was renovated large doors were installed that can be opened during performances, so that music can spill onto downtown streets.
The work that Infinity does deserves recognition and the support that the community offers Infinity through events like Local Music Showcase deserve documenting. This event adds to the culture of our city and invigorates the arts while raising funds and awareness for a much needed program in Jamestown and Chautauqua County.
