Annual Christmas Parade Brings Holiday Cheer to Downtown Jamestown

“Jamestown’s Snowball Express” Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 in downtown Jamestown, sponsored by The Resource Center and Lutheran Jamestown.

The parade will be led by a real steam engine and culminate with the arrival of Santa Claus on Western New York and Pennsylvania Railroad’s Caboose #300.

The evening will include pre-parade entertainment, a traditional tree lighting ceremony, the Jamestown Cycle Shop Snowball Drop, and a fireworks show.

Parade line-up will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. on Third Street between Monroe Avenue and Hallock Street, with the parade stepping off at 6:30 p.m. and traveling east on Third Street to Tracy Plaza. The parade will conclude by 8:00 p.m.

All businesses and organizations interested in participating in the parade are asked to register by November 25. Participation includes a fee of $10 for all commercial and business entrants. For non-commercial, not-for-profit, and civic organizations, the $10 fee is optional. Registration forms are available online at Businesses and organizations may also sponsor a trophy for $25. There will be eight different trophy categories for the parade in 2013 including Best Theme Related parade unit, Best Animal, Best Business, Best Civic/Not-for-Profit, Best Youth Involvement, Most Creative, Best All Around, and Crowd Favorite.

For the seventh year in a row, the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation also invites participation in the Jamestown Snowball Drop, which will take place in conjunction with post-parade festivities. Interested businesses, organizations, and event organizers are asked to contact Tiffani Conti at 716-664-2477 x226 to participate.

Additional support for the annual parade is provided by the City of Jamestown and its various departments, including Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Public Safety, and the Board of Public Utilities. The Jamestown Gateway Train Station will also support this year’s parade by providing unique attractions that will be announced as details are finalized.
